I miss the butterflies! Summer is over, and those gentle insects have long migrated or finished their life cycles. But I still wear my butterfly necklaces from The Magic Zoo. I have one of every single design they make. Yes, all the colored ones and the silver and gold as well. Doesn’t that get expensive? Hailing from Western China, the Winter Jasmine outdoor bonsai tree, or the jasminum nudiflorum, is a great little bonsai that is hardy enough to survive in zones six through ten. While it’s native to China, it has been grown in many different western countries since the middle of the 1800s. The Winter Jasmine features glossy, bright green pinnate leaves that split into three oblong leaflets at the end. The branches are almost like vines in a way, they are so thin. Before the leaves start to appear, the Winter Jasmine actually bears little one inch yellow flowers. They start at the bottom of the stems and slowly work their way towards the end so that by the late winter, the flowers have reached the tips. If branches dip down to touch the moist soil, it’s possible for them to split off, take root, and grow a brand new plant.

I am the Activities Director for a retirement community and we recently had a substantial donation to our recreation center fund. We have a fine establishment for our recreation room, but our various activities equipment was out dated and had seen better days. So this generous gift couldn’t have come at a better time. At our board meeting we determined that we would add some casino gaming style tables. The residents were all overjoyed at the thought of getting to play their favorite casino games. A vote was taken and it was decided that we would focus first on obtaining a craps table and all the necessary craps supplies needed.

We just went to visit my niece in her new apartment and I couldn’t believe how perfect it is. She and one of her friends have found a nice two bedroom, two bath apartment in a quaint little complex in a very convenient location for both school, shopping, and entertainment. They have picked out some really neat furniture for both bedrooms as well as their living room and even for the shaded patio off of the kitchen. The kitchen itself is kind of small but very functional and almost feels like your in a galley on boat. Both girls love to cook and I noticed they had a mix of pots and pans that looked a little worse for wear. How many pairs of unique sterling silver dragonfly earrings can one woman own? Or for that matter, how many a dragonfly pendant can she have? My mom has arthritic hands that have plagued her for quite some time. She actually copes with it pretty well, but there are many things that just aren’t as easy for her to do as they used to be.
